AAOHN 2021 Leadership Institute Webinar Series: High-Touch & High-Tech: Cultivating Leadership & Soft Skills for the OHN

Developing leadership qualities and skills in the nursing and business environment is critical to the success of the occupational health and safety specialty. At past AAOHN National Conferences, AAOHN has offered an in-person Leadership Institute workshop. Based on the previous success of this workshop and the positive feedback from the Dare to Lead: Leadership Discussion Panel held at this year’s virtual conference experience, we are evolving the Leadership Institute into a bundled series of on-demand topics.

Course Outcomes:

Upon completion of this session, the learner will be able to:

• Identify characteristics of leadership and various leadership styles.
• Implement strategies for leadership skill development, drawing on concepts from business and healthcare administration, that can be applied in a rapidly changing, highly digital environment.
• Demonstrate strategies to become a more inclusive leader with a digital-ready mindset necessary to adapt and thrive in a "high-tech" environment, while cultivating soft skills to maintain highly connected, personalized relationships.
• Identify the critical role of mentorship in the development of non-positional leaders and explore opportunities for mentee/mentorship relationships.
